Hello, I’m Lynne and I work closely with job seekers when they first approach Allen Associates looking for a new role, carrying out interviews and registering them as candidates.

Q&A
Tell us a bit about your career

Before joining Allen Associates, I spent 26 years working for the BBC, both in public service broadcasting and on the commercial side. My last role was as Divisional Manager for BBC Resources Ltd which was one of the largest production facilities and design services providers in the UK for programme makers.

I subsequently managed a private medical practice for 12 years and was instrumental in helping to develop and implement a successful growth strategy.

What attracted you to Allen Associates?

I met our founder, Kate Allen, many years ago when I left the BBC and loved her energy, passion for people and her refreshing approach to recruitment. When Kate approached me, post covid, and asked if I would like to help out, it was a very easy yes!

Briefly describe your role and key skills

I am a good communicator and listener; I am able to build rapport quickly and love meeting and helping people – nothing much fazes me!

I have an interesting and varied role which includes interviewing candidates; writing job ads; keeping the diaries full of candidates and ensuring the back office processes run smoothly. I love the variety, meeting and helping candidates and of course, working with such a fun and supportive team.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I am a BBC Pensioner Volunteer Visitor and am also the Treasurer of a charity focused on supporting young people dealing with mental health challenges.

I love crafting, using natural materials such as corks, pebbles, sea glass, log slices etc, and really enjoy cooking, including creating my own recipes.

Our cheeky chocolate labrador also keeps me on my toes!

What advice would you give to anyone that wants to work in recruitment?

Good communication skills and resilience are key. Be prepared to work hard and you will  enjoy the satisfaction and rewards of successfully placing candidates and meeting the needs of your clients.
