Reporting to the Head of Payroll, this is an exciting opportunity for an entry level assistant with an avid interest in Finance and Payroll to be trained to process multi-client payroll portfolios for the company's ever-growing Payroll function.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Trainee Payroll Assistant to join our client’s fun and friendly team. Reporting to the Head of Payroll, this is an exciting opportunity for an entry level assistant with an avid interest in Finance and Payroll to be trained to process multi-client payroll portfolios for the company’s ever-growing Payroll function.

Trainee Payroll Assistant Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will involve but are not limited to:

  • Process monthly payrolls (end-to-end) for clients in an accurate and timely manner ensuring all deadlines are adhered to.
  • Ensure all payroll actions are compliant and delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and contractual obligations.
  • Provide advice to clients and employees to respond to payroll queries.
  • Support clients with payroll reporting requirements.
  • Calculate benefits and producing P11d’s & PSAs and submitting to HMRC.
  • Set up assistance on new PAYE schemes and any handover payrolls
  • Set up pension schemes as required.
  • Deal with all Auto Enrolment enquiries / setting up Auto Enrolment pension schemes.
  • Perform manual calculations as required.
  • Calls with HMRC on any PAYE related queries

Trainee Payroll Assistant Experience

The ideal candidate will have studied a STEM related subject at A-level or have studied Finance at University.

You are diligent, able to prioritise and juggle a busy workload with an accurate sense of attention to detail. A great communicator, you can engage and communicate with people of all levels.. Punctual and organised, you are able to meet deadlines within a timely matter, always understanding and recognising the importance of clients' payroll activities and needs.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is essential to the success of this role.

Please note this is a standalone payroll position. Our client is interested in seeing candidates that have a passion for building a career in Payroll and will help and support you to get there. Although they are an accountancy consultancy, they cannot provide development opportunities for those wishing to become accountants, therefore please only apply if you wish to build an amazing and fruitful career in Payroll with them.

Location

This is a part-time position working 30 hours per week with the potential to become full time based on the demand of their clients.

To be as flexible as possible, they do not have mandatory core hours, however the typical working pattern that employees follow are 8:30 or 9am start to a 5pm or 5:30pm finish depending on the length of the lunch break you wish to take.

They work on a 50/50 work model split and you will be able to work 2 days from home as well as working 2 days from the office.

Our client wishes to start the successful applicant as soon as possible. There will be 2 stages of interview:

An initial TEAMs call with one of the Partners

A face to face interview with the HR Manager and the Head of Payroll which will also involve a skills test.

The probationary period is 4 months. Full training will be provided during the onboarding period. Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment vetting checks and must have the right to work in the UK.
