Temporary School Business Manager Responsibilities
This position will involve, but will not be limited to:
- Providing strategic leadership on finance, governance, and operational risk to support the school’s long-term sustainability.
- Leading HR functions, including recruitment, staff development, payroll, and employee relations, ensuring adherence to employment law and safeguarding policies.
- Overseeing administrative operations and managing the team responsible for communication and office management.
- Managing the school site, health & safety, facilities, contracts, procurement, and capital projects, to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
- Supporting budget planning, financial monitoring, and reporting, including audits and contingency planning, to promote financial health and stability.
- Ensuring compliance with GDPR, safer recruitment, safeguarding, and other relevant regulations.
School Business Manager Rewards
- Competitive hourly pay rate between £21.65 and £25.54, depending on skills and experience, plus holiday pay.
- Weekly PAYE payroll
- Chance to lead and implement strategic initiatives in a setting that champions inclusion, education, and personalised support.
- Immediate start with a contract that runs until February 2027, providing stability and continuity.

School Business Manager Experience Essentials
- Proven experience in a senior financial or operational management role within an education, health, or social care setting.
- Qualification in business management, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of HR processes, employment law, and safeguarding standards.
- Experience managing budgets, payroll, and financial systems.
- Understanding of premises management, health & safety, and risk assessments.
- Excellent organisational, ICT, and communication skills.

Based in South Oxfordshire. Parking is available onsite.
